MS Paint has long been the go-to program for bored doodling in high school comp sci classes. But if the author of this Soundcloud upload is to be believed, it’s also a pretty dope dubstep track. The uploader claims this jam was produced by converting the MS Paint .EXE file into raw PCM audio data. In theory this is possible with any kind of data, but the output generated from Paint’s code is strangely coherent and, dare I say, musical. There’s still some question as to how legit this is. In a way, it seems too good to be real. Motherboard tipster and software engineer Dustin says that most executables have large sections of repeated zeros, sometimes thousands. This would create a lot of blank space, whereas the output here is comprised mostly of audible frequencies. It is possible that the author merely removed these blank spaces for the sake of brevity, however.Has anyone else tried doing this? I’m kind of curious to hear what Minesweeper and Solitaire sound like.Windows 7 x64 MS Paint EXE Interpereted as PCM Data by R2Bl3nd[Thanks, Dustin!]
