Remember Google Glass? Well, I guess I shouldn’t say that in past tense, because Google’s still pushing its virtual-reality eyewear pretty hard. A few days ago Sergey Brin convinced designer Diane von Furstenberg to have models wear the glasses during a DVF show at NYFW, which resulted in a series of rather dorky photos. The kicker was that the models wearing the glasses were recording video while strutting around the runway. Now the video has been mixed into the short above, entitled “DVF [through Glass]”. According to the video’s description, everything in the mix was shot with Google Glass. It’s about as shaky as you’d expect, but having the entire crew wear the glasses gives the piece a surprisingly intimate behind-the-scenes view of how a fashion show goes down. But that’s also where the Glass part of the video falls apart: After watching the piece, I don’t have any more desire to walk around with robot eyewear all day. All I want now is a team of people to make me look semi-respectable every day.Follow Derek Mead on Twitter: @derektmead.
