The digital gardening geniuses at Japanese art collective [teamLab](http://www.team-lab.net/) struck again. Their work ranges from [a hanging flower garden](http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog/a-kinetic-sea-of-flowers-blooms-in-tokyo) to [an LED Christmas tree](http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog/deck-the-halls-with-teamlabs-interactive-led-christmas-tree), and [a projection-mapped field of lilies](http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog/walk-on-water-in-a-projection-mapped-paddy-field).

[_Resonating Trees_](http://www.team-lab.net/en/all/art/resonatingtrees.html) is a sound and light installation that appeared in Nagasaki, Japan. It ebbs and flows with a rippling effect. Adding a sense of heightened awareness to your everyday walk through the park, this path of trees lights up and makes a sound corresponding to that color when a tree senses it&#x2019;s being approached by a person. The trees next to it then respond to that shift in light and move to match it. Ultimately, this domino effect creates a symphonic arboretum of light that is totally unique to each person&#x2019;s journey through it.

・Resonating Trees

Trees along the canal are brightly lit up. The light of each tree is autonomous, slowly breathing it shines brightly and then fades. 

When people pass close to the trees, the light changes color and a tone color resonates out. Then, the light of the tree will resonate to the trees on both sides and the trees on the opposite side of the canal. The propagated light of the trees, will again resonate, and the color tone will continue to resonate along to the next trees. 

When a light resonates from the far end of the canal it signifies the presence of people. Perhaps people will become more aware of the existence of other living things in the same space.

運河沿いの木々がライトアップされ光り輝く。木々の光は、それぞれ自律しており、ゆっくりと呼吸するかのように強く輝いたり消えたりしている。 

木々の光は、鑑賞者が近くを通ると、光の色を変化させ色特有の音色を響かせる。そして、その木の光は、両隣の木と対岸の木に伝播させていく。伝播された木の光は、同じように音色を響かせながら、次々に隣の木に伝播させ、連続していく。 

長い運河の向こうの方から光が押し寄せてくれば、向こうの方に人がいることを意味する。人々はきっと、同じ空間にいる他の人々の存在を普段より意識するだろう。
