We might be on the heels of Labor Day, but everyone can chill, and rejoice, because our favorite sax slinger, GRiZ, just dropped a surprise (free download) album to remind us: summer isn't over quite yet. Chasing The Golden Hour Pt. 1, as the Detroit native describes, is about recreating the carefree good vibes of a perfect summer sunset—that magical moment when the cool breeze is up against your back. Sounds pretty nice right?

The nine-track LP, which is the first in a two part release, stays true to the artist's soulful, yet totally moveable style, and brings in a number of his usual All Good Records pals like Exmag and Russ Liquid, whose saucy trumpet croons help set the tone during the album's first track. The surprise LP comes after the release of GRiZ, real name Grant Kwiecenski's, last album Say It Loud, and substitutes some of the more bass-heavy rhythms of the former with some more downtempo, (movie) sample-heavy, instrumental hip-hop leaning cuts that certainly pay some homage to his native city's J. Dilla, while encapsulating a funky summer vibe better than a sativa-laced frozen margarita.
