Davide Squillace & PLUGGER Dive Into Weirdness with Their Video “Waxoline”

The Barcelona-based DJ was immediately amazed by the power and psychedelia of this Italian outfit’s music.

The first time Davide Squillace met experimental Italian group PLUGGER was two years ago in Ibiza. The Barcelona-based DJ was immediately amazed by the power and psychedelia of their music, as well as their impressive multimedia live show.

Fast forward to 2015 and Squillace has welcomed the outfit to his This And That label for their Re_Cycle#1 debut EP. Built around PLUGGER's innovative production concept which manipulates a band or artist's entire back catalogue, the latest offering extracts parts and pieces from existing records and reshapes them into an entirely fresh, original composition—where no other external sound is added or allowed.

Highlighting the four-track recording is a collaboration with Squillace himself on the leading tune, "Waxoline". The guest producer injects a dose of atmospheric techno aimed at re-contextualizing PLUGGER's indie sound for the dance floor. Taking it a step further is the track's surreal accompanying video, which is in every sense of the word a mind-bending trip down the rabbit hole.

With their shared philosophy of fusing music, art and culture, the formation of Davide Squillace and PLUGGER certainly makes for an exciting project… if also a very bizarre one. Just don't say we didn't warn you.
