Watch Mr. Eazi Confess His Love in His "Leg Over" Video

The Nigerian artist's 'Accra to Lagos' mixtape is available today.

Mr. Eazi has quickly made himself one of the most sought after Afrobeats artists over the past year. Born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria and based in Accra, Ghana, the former college party promoter gained an international following with his single "Skin Tight," which now has over a million plays on both Soundcloud and YouTube. His rise attracted West African superstars Wizkid giving more validity to his case for stardom. Today, Eazi dropped his debut mixtape Life is Eazi, Vol. 1: Accra to Lagos, a tribute to the two cities that molded he and his artistry. When I spoke with Eazi for our Noisey Next column in November, he said the tape's purpose was to preserve indigenous sounds of both places as West African music continues to spread across the globe, becoming more susceptible to being changed for commercial gain.

To go along with Accra to Lagos dropping, we're premiering the video for its lead single, "Leg Over," a track about being taken advantage of in a relationship. "'Leg Over' refers to what they call 'step over' in football (soccer). In the song, I'm basically talking about my girl who is playing me, dribbling me a.k.a. doing me 'leg over,'" Eazi tells me through texts. "I'm complaining about this but also still acknowledging that though I know what she is doing, I'm fine with it as long as she keeps giving me love (my portion). The song was not meant to be a single but once it leaked and my fans caught it, they began doing these Instagram videos calling it #legoverchallenge so I decided to infuse some dance in the video."

In the video, Eazi stops by to talk to his priest, played by British-Congolese comedian Eddie Kadi, to vent about his relationship. He then finds himself in a dance studio as women try their hand at the #legoverchallenge. Wizkid and Nigerian artist Maleek Berry make appearances as well. Watch "Leg Over" below.
