Eric Dickerson Can Now Go Back to Rams Games (Jeff Fisher Got Fired)

Jeff Fisher tied the record for most losses in NFL history, and then get fired.

Spot the lie, tho.

A whopping eight days after word leaked that the Los Angeles Rams had signed Jeff Fisher to a contract extension before the start of the season, Fisher has been fired. Fisher, who went on a slightly less inspired version of LeBron's infamous "Not two, not three, not four…" boast in this year's Hard Knocks, turned out to be absolutely correct. He did not fucking go 7-9, or 8-8, or 9-7 OK? Or 10-6, for that matter.

All signs have been pointing in this direction for some time now, with it coming to a head last week when Fisher openly blamed the front office for the bad record and results. When he wasn't blaming Les Snead, he was blaming the recent move to Los Angeles, penalties, a youthful team, and, like, the sun, for losses.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams got outclassed 42-14 by the Julio Jones-less Atlanta Falcons, and in the process earned Fisher a place of distinction he's literally been working his whole career toward. It was his 165th loss as a head coach, tying him with Dan Reeves for the all-time NFL record. Over 23 seasons, Reeves posted a 190-165-2 record, while Fisher went 173-165-1 over 22 seasons. Fittingly, Fisher can't even win at being the worst (unless someone decides to give him another shot, which, please, someone destroy Woody Johnson's phone before it's too late). Fisher almost surely would have had the record sewn up next week, when the Rams travel to Seattle against a Seahawks team who were thoroughly humiliated by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Instead, interim coach John Fassel—former New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel's son—will get to start his career with that L.

Next Sunday also marks the last road game of the season for the Rams, so expect to see Eric Dickerson back on the sideline for the final two weeks of the season.

The Los Angeles Rams are 4-9.
