We’ve been championing MUNA for a minute (or well over a year), because this LA trio make insanely catch pop songs that are also lyrically impactful. They pen indelible melodies and deftly combine them with lyrics that speak to the disenfranchised, the underdogs, the LGBTQ community… and the romantics. And just as they do in song, in person they’re similarly forthright. Normally when an artist takes part in an episode of Call Your Mom, chit-chat is lighthearted and unexpected (face tattoos, weed, whatever), but when guitarist Josette called her dad, talk turned serious pretty quickly—which is a very good thing because the topics discussed are particularly pertinent in this uncertain era of our orange president.
