This week, I'm presenting my friend Jade Katz's new video, TV Killed the Lower East Side. With the help of Jade's pet rat, Petunia, the video shows how television and movies convinced millions of people to move to New York City. After watching TV, Petunia the rat falls in love with the Lower East Side and decides to move to the dangerous, artistic community. Soon afterwards, more gentrifiers (aka rats) follow Petunia's lead, pushing New York natives and artists out of their homes, creating today's Lower East Side. Like all of Jade's art work, the video is both funny and smart. You can watch it above.
