Corporate Shilling - Norton Furniture

Upon first viewing this commercial you might feel like you’ve been slipped a psychotropic drug. That’s because nothing makes sense. By the look of Marc's ponytail, the theme of this commercial was probably culled from his experiences during the 60s.

From the random animals of the wild flanking Marc to the ominous cries from unseen beasts in the background, this is just total oddball. But that’s the genius. Here we are, several years (decades?) after the fact still talking about it. The randomness is imprinted into our minds. While countless polished commercials have dissolved into the ether, the stupidity of this hilarious commercial still has us talking – and asking questions. Like why is there a police officer mannequin and why does Marc talk to him and, like, where do you even find a mannequin of a police officer?

The store is located in Cleveland (surprise), so when Lebron absconded to Miami the local authorities should have just put this on the airwaves and catapulted everyone into an Infinite Jest-like stupor of happy delirium. In fact, we read on Norton Furniture’s Wikipedia page (yes, they have a Wikipedia page) that Marc has become so popular in Cleveland he actually participated in the Keep Lebron campaign.

We're guessing this thing is from the mid-aughts so, what with the recession and all, it's sort of sad to think about how much of that easy credit was repaid. Probably not much, especially if we’re talking about people who actually need credit to buy a couch or some other furnishing from Marc and his incestuous tiger.
