The World Up the Punk Funk With a Two Sax Attack

Listen to a taut, post-punk track from the Oakland five-piece's upcoming debut album.

Shopping is a blood sport, you are only as good as your last shop, it's shop o'clock somewhere in the world. Yadda yadda, whatever, The World don't particularly care.

While the Oakland five-piece's latest song "Hot Shopper" has lines like "You've got the whole world in your hands, check those coupons!" the band deliver the jaunty track with a high level of facetiousness and with tongues planted firmly in cheeks.

Taken from their debut album, due October 9 on UK label Upset The Rhythm, the track ups the funk and fun of their earlier EP and the double sax attack goes into over time.

With members having done time in bands such as Andy Human and the Reptoids, Rays, Pang, and Penny Machine, they know their way around a post-punk jam. Bang this in your headphones and stick your fingers up at 'retail therapy'.

The World's debut album is available Oct 9 on Upset The Rhythm.
