Hey Motherboarders, we've headed out west for the first-ever Los Angeles Drone Film Festival. Tonight, at the Downtown Independent Theater, dozens of filmmakers from around the world will show off the next generation of filmmaking.As someone who has seen most of the films being screened tonight (Motherboard is partnering with the festival), I can confidently say that drone films have taken a huge leap from the bad old days of EDM layered over landscape shots. You'll see films with narrative, slick editing, and brand-new techniques, such as aerial timelapses. Tickets are still available.
