Watch the Trailer for Aaron Sorkin's Directorial Debut 'Molly's Game'

Aaron Sorkin is a pro at writing high-adrenaline dramas that explore life in America's uppermost echelons, from The West Wing to Moneyball to The Social Network. Now, in his directorial debut, he's taking a deep dive into the shady world of underground gambling.

In an exclusive first look at Sorkin's bracing new drama Molly's Game, we follow Jessica Chastain as Molly Bloom—the real-life "Poker Princess" who climbs to the top of an illicit high-stakes poker club for A-list celebrities. Bloom wrote a tell-all memoir about her years in the underground network before she narrowly escaped jail time back in 2014.

The trailer finds Molly struggling to stay afloat as a waitress in Los Angeles when her boss (Jeremy Strong) taps her to run his secret weekly poker game at the Cobra Lounge, an infamous den for illegal gambling. The only thing bigger than the stakes here are the players: She shares the room with famous actors, directors, and Wall Street titans—played by Michael Cera, Kevin Costner, and Chris O'Dowd. Soon, she's making major money off cuts from the pots, which tend to swell to more than $100,000.

Soon Molly heads out to New York where a new host of shady characters get involved in her subterranean empire—including, unbeknownst to her, members of the Russian mob. Once the FBI catches wind of the high-stakes tournaments, Molly finds herself in the crosshairs of a major federal investigation and turns to a powerful lawyer (Idris Elba) to try to save herself from doing time.

Armed with his own script and a subject that sits squarely in his wheelhouse, Sorkin's Molly's Game should be one hell of a directorial debut.
