Antipodean hero Neil Finn––singer and songwriter for Crowded House and Split Enz, brother of Tim, legend in his own right––is replacing Lindsey Buckingham in Fleetwood Mac. Yep, you heard that right: the New Zealand legend is taking on some guitar duties for the group because Lindsey was reportedly fired over disagreements surrounding their upcoming tour, according to Rolling Stone. Neil confirmed the news to Rolling Stone, noting that he “received a wonderful invitation to be part of a truly great band,” and that band turned out to be Fleetwood Mac! “It felt fresh and exciting,” he said of their first rehearsal together, “So many great songs, a spectacular rhythm section, and two of the greatest voices ever. Best of all, we sounded good together.”
Of course you sounded good together, Neil Finn! You’re Neil Finn! And they’re (most of) Fleetwood Mac’s most iconic lineup! You’re some of the greatest musicians of all time! All playing together! Beautiful, sweet, humble Neil Finn. What a man he is. While the loss of Lindsey may be disheartening for some long term Fleetwood Mac fans, I personally can’t wait for sweet Neil to step into the spotlight.
