Katie Hopkins has left her job as presenter for the radio station LBC with immediate effect.

The news was confirmed by LBC this morning in a tweet that read: "LBC and Katie Hopkins have decided that Katie will leave LBC effective immediately."

The commentator became the subject of a police review after the Manchester terror attack on Monday. Hopkins, also responsible for all sorts of abhorrent columns on Mail Online, was reported to the Metropolitan police after tweeting to her 736,000 followers: "We need a final solution."

The former Celebrity Big Brother and Apprentice star quickly deleted the tweet and posted an amended version after she was criticised for referencing the Nazi term for the Holocaust.

Hopkins' original tweet read: "22 dead - number rising. Schofield. Don't you even dare. Do not be part of the problem. We need a final solution. #Manchester."

The 42-year-old then changed the latter part of her post to read "we need a true solution. #ManchesterArena".

Since the tweets were posted, Hopkins' has been under fire on Twitter. Political activist and commentator Owen Jones called for a boycott against LBC until Hopkins was fired.
