SACRAMENTO - WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT GANGLIANS?

Ganglians first came to my attention when they released a split seven-inch with Eat Skull back in January. Now, I love Eat Skull as much as the next guy, and their side was pretty sweet, but this other band was even better. One track was not enough. I wanted more. It came in the shape of their self-titled 12-inch on the consistently amazing Woodsist label, and it has barely left my turntable since plopping through the letterbox a month or so ago. Now, they've just released Monster Head Room on Weird Forest, and it's looking like a contender for my LP of the year.

Describing music in writing is not the easiest thing at the best of times, but Ganglians have really got me struggling. These guys put a lot in the mix, they've got to be total muso nerds. All at once they bring to mind The Litter, Pavement, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, The Oh Sees, and The Misfits. And they've even got a song that sounds like "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid. I know it sounds terrible, but just have a listen.
