MELBOURNE - MEET A STUPID HOMO

America is a sad little monkey these days. It misses the days when there were bands that weren't pussies and could play you several good songs in one shot. That just doesn't seem to happen very much anymore. It's a depressing thought and the shortage of acceptable acts is staggering, but there are a few glimmering unknown stains showing up under the current affair black-light. One example is The Homostupids. Here we have three men with instruments and mouths that have figured out how to use them and not look like douches with a suitcase full of delay pedals or little internet garage penises. It's actually astonishing at the heights they go to put all of you to shame. True Skull Music merchants. After seeing them live you truly look like 'daddy's little disappointment'. You all might as well put on the dress and get it over with. They basically put it on for you with the sheer volume and ferocity they hand you with every song of their new record CAT MUSIC. I had a chance to sit on the phone with bassist/mouthist Steve Peffer and get a bunch of ridiculous answers to questions that I wanted answers to….. Maybe next time. It all makes sense to me though. A band that actually doesn't give a fuck. Finally……

This interview is ridiculous. Enjoy.

Uncle Sharkey: Hi, Steve. It's Uncle. Here are my questions……
Steve: Hi, Uncle! Let me have these dorky questions, ok?

How many people are in your music band?
Well, it's me and 2 other guys. I won't speak for them.

Fair enough. Hey. Vice gave your first LP the Intern a shitty review. How do you feel about that and me asking you questions for the Vice blog?
I think it's great stuff! Good reviewers! Oh, that reminds me, John. You like Neil Young, right? Do you like free jazz too-like that Albert Ayler dude? You should check out these crushers Dark Meat. Oh wait a second. I'm at work. I gotta go open the door for someone. Hang on second, OK?

No this is serious business, bozo. Your sounds on record lean to the more lo-fi end of the spectrum. Do you choose to utilize poor recordings or is it something you're force to deal with due to volume or monetary restraints?
Have you heard our new record called "Cat Music"? It's pretty fuckin' good. We are my new favorite band now. Which is very cool. Think of how fun it is to be in YOUR own favorite band!! I just made my Best Of Neil Pt.2 tape and it starts with that live version of "Man Needs A Maid" with the weird synthesizer parts. That's from the gig you went to, right?

Yeah, I was there. But he did the synth version the night after i saw him. Him did a bluesier version the night I was there. That man showed me what it's meant to feel…….Ok, next question.Do you think people use the lo-fi sound as a gimmick or a mask to cover up poor song writing skills. Not a jab at you, just seems more prevalent these days with a lot of new bands.
I don't know why other gay shitty bands do anything . Our band is fucking awesome and our records are fucking awesome. Don't you think our shit sounds cool as fuck?

Yeah Stever, it's pretty banger and decent. So, what is up with Cat Music? I thought you were Skull Music? Thats what your press release says.
I told you before, dummy. Cat Music is our new super good record. And my favorite record in my collection. Ask me about my collection.

I will not, Steven….. So you play Skull Music? Not many bands play that type of music. Do you think there are any new candidates for Skull Music out there? Would you enlighten us?
New Skullers could be maybe Ed Bradley from 60 Minutes or maybe Bernie Mac or this guy named Dean who lives in the apartment building next door to my house. Dean is Dave's, my landlord, he's his right hand man---always fixing shit y'know? Replacing hot water tanks and shit like that. How about you?

I think maybe Lamps or Tim Russert, bless his soul. Well, I think we've wasted enough time. You have any last words to the people or Australia? That where I am now.
Yes I do-Come to the gigs and buy all our shit. OKbyebye.
