THE U.N'S NATIONAL DELEGATES ARE ALL DOGS

As part of the Next Wave Festival in Melbourne on the weekend, Western Australian artist Bennett Miller recreated a former U.N office in Geneva, replacing all 47 national representatives with different breeds of Dachshunds, or sausage dogs as we've always known them.

Oblivious to the fact that they were the at the centre of an experiment and a comment by the artist regarding the "utopian aspirations of the Commission on Human Rights and our capacity as humans to imagine and achieve a universal system of justice", the dogs yawned and yelped and stuck their bums in the microphones and were just generally insanely cute.

This is the master of ceremonies who spent the whole hour trying to jump off his podium and join the rest of the dogs.

All the Dachshund lovers crawled out of the woodwork for the day and brought their cute, eleven week old puppies along. Despite its innocent expression, this little guy turned out to be quite the biter.

Midway through proceedings, the dogs had removed all the dog food from the microphones and began seriously losing interest. Only India and South Africa demonstrated continued patience and composure while chaos ensued around them.

Dachshund U.N is happening again this Saturday and the following at the Exhibition Buildings in Melbourne and we guarantee it'll ease the bulk of your hangover symptoms. See what else is happening at the Next Wave Festival here.
