WE GOT A NEW PM AND WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO VOTE!

Australia crashed out of the world cup this morning, but there was a consolation prize: we got our first ever female Prime Minister. Sure, the "first female" part of it shouldn't be that big of a deal because other countries have had women leaders before (even NZ). To be honest, right now that angle to the story is completely irrelevant anyway. The actual best part of Julia Gillard replacing Kevin Rudd is that it all took place without the mess and fuss of an election.
I know what you're thinking: isn't it the people's job to decide who runs the country? You're right, usually it is. But that's what's so nice about this government. Most of the time when there's a change of power, the whole country gets dragged through months of meaningless rhetoric and idiotic fear mongering. This time though, the ruling ALP was like: "You know what guys? We got it." How thoughtful is that! Since you're up, government, how's about making us a cup of tea. PS. This is opposition leader Tony Abbott, the guy Julia's now up against. ROYCE AKERS
