We finally said 'sorry' to the Aborigines today for all the totally shitty things they’ve been through since the rest of the world decided Australia was a good place to send all their criminals. It doesn’t even make sense that it hasn’t happened before and definitely makes Howard look like an even bigger douche now that it has happened. But at least it’s happened and it's a big step in the right direction, yes?Anyway, we were at Federation Square this morning watching Rudd win over the masses on the big screen and as soon as he finished his speech, right on queue, the clouds parted and it became really sunny which reminded us of the time we saw Andrew WK play at the Meredith festival last year. Basically, at one point in the middle of his set, the sun came out and he exclaimed with enormous purpose, "This is not a coincidence people, this is not a coincidence." They were both really good moments. Unfortunately it was at right about this moment that the Opposition Leader, Brendan Nelson, came on and killed the awesome vibe with his just-less-than-half-an-apology and we all got bummed out and wished Andrew WK had been there on the big screen instead because he would have known just the right thing to say.
