That androgynous, ear-level length blunt cut stuck a middle finger up to strict Victorian and Edwardian social mores, making (marcel) waves across 1920s society at the time. Popularised by silver screen actresses like Louise Brooks and Colleen Moore, the bob still crops up (groan) in films as varied as those of Gregg Araki, Luc Besson and Quentin Tarantino.
