A government minister publicly put a hit on someone this weekend, but you were too drunk to notice.

LIBYAN PROTESTERS FORCE MILITANTS OUT OF BENGHAZI
Citizens are tired of militias carrying guns and bombing embassies

Hundreds of protesters stormed the Benghazi headquarters of Ansar al-Shariah, the Islamist militant group suspected to be behind the attacks that killed the US ambassador to Libya.

The militants fired shots into the air to try and disperse the crowd, but eventually fled the compound as protesters advanced, shouting "No to miltias" and "Libya! Libya!"

Although some militia groups aided Libyan forces in ousting Muammar Gaddafi from power, it seems they might have out-stayed their welcome, with one protester saying, "I don’t want to see armed men wearing Afghani-style clothes stopping me in the street to give me orders, I only want to see people in uniform.”

Interim Libyan leader, Mohammed Magarief, has since promised to dissolve any militia not under the authority of the government, while also urging everyone else to stop using violence and carrying weapons around in public places.

PAKISTANI GOVERNMENT MINISTER PUTS A $100,000 HIT OUT ON THE CREATOR OF ANTI-ISLAM FILM
Ghulam Ahmad Bilour isn't a fan of 'Innocence of Muslims'

(via)

The latest show of retaliation against anti-Islam film, The Innocence of Muslims, comes from Pakistan's Railway minister, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour.

The politician has offered a bounty of $100,000 to anyone who murders the maker of the film, Nakoula Basseley, calling on his "Taliban brothers" and "al-Qaeda brothers" to join him in his mission.

Pakistan's government were quick to distance themselves from Bilour's renegade plan, saying "This is not government policy. We completely dissociate (ourselves) from this."

TORY ENFORCER ADMITS SWEARING AT POLICE OFFICER
But promises he didn't call him a pleb

(via)

Conservative chief whip, Andrew Mitchell, got upset because a policeman wouldn't let him leave Downing Street by the main gate and allegedly called the officer a "fucking pleb" who didn't "run this fucking government" and needed to "learn (his) fucking place".

Mitchell denies the quotes, claiming the bad language he did use was merely out of frustration and not directed as an attack against the officer.

The hissy fit hasn't done too much good for relations between the government and the police and a lot of people want Mitchell to resign, but it doesn't look like he's going to. Nick Clegg has voiced support and David Cameron said he would back him unless there are further developments.

The scandal rages on.

GANGNAM STYLE DANCE-OFF PROMPTS GANG SHOOT-OUT IN THAILAND
Gangs in Bangkok need to stop watching 'West Side Story'

(via)

Two rival Bangkok gangs were dining in the same restaurant over the weekend, when younger members from each side apparently started dancing provocatively at each other in "the manner of top hit Gangnam Style".

Reports are vague, but the dance-off somehow escalated into an argument, then, eventually, a gun fight.

At least 50 bullets were fired between the two gangs, but no one was injured or killed in the incident, which will presumably go down as one of the most embarrassing moments in Thai gangland folklore.
