Kiwi's New EP is More Microhouse Than a New York Apartment

Stream the Duke Dumont approved producer's "The Mara" EP right here.

When Duke Dumont's not getting nominated for Grammys or lighting up festivals and clubs around the world, he runs a mysterious lil label called Blasé Boys Club. They're about to release The Mara EP by London producer Kiwi, and we've got the first listen.

The three-track EP opens with the titular number, a 120bpm groover with a stubby mid-synth and detuned descending bloopy sounds that'll get you jackin'. The funktastic "Gerenuk" follows. For the curious, the track is named after a long-necked antelope found in Africa. It sounds like future-disco-of-the-past or what Daft Punk listen to while they eat breakfast. Last comes the Duke Dumont edit of "The Mara." It has a little less wonk than the original, but keeps the microhouse feels.

It's a solid release from the DJ-turned-producer – Kiwi's a regular at the The Nest and XOYO in London, so let's hope this release gets him stateside. Also, we think he likes cats.
