Maker Faire NYC Electrifies!

Highlights from this weekend’s Maker Faire at New York Hall of Science.

We stopped by World Maker Faire 2010 this weekend to check out the DIY arts, crafts, and tech on display. Housed at New York’s Hall of Science, the two-day event had a science-fair-meets-craft-fair vibe, a celebration of geekery for all ages and interests. Highlights included the much-anticipated Tesla coil musical performance and light show from ArcAttack! (see video above), a Life Size Mousetrap, a MakerBot factory, a high-tech fashion show with designer Diana Eng, and countless of booths and exhibits where visitors could get their hands dirty and experiment with something new. We loved the community feel of the event—it seemed homegrown, just like the DIY ethos it was celebrating—and the Hall of Science was without a doubt the perfect venue for the occasion. We hope Maker Faire will be making its’ way back to NYC again in the near future!
