Constellation (2012) from defasten on Vimeo. There’s no shortage of VFX-strewn videos giving abstract visual form to various types of electronic music, but the same can’t be said for music of the classical variety, with the possible exception of Stephen Malinowski and his Music Animation Machine. But this video from animator/director Patrick Doan (aka Defasten) and sound designer Shervin Shaeri breaks with tradition, as they match particle-based visuals with Chopin’s “Etude No.12 in C minor, Opus 10” (Révolutionnaire)".The piece takes its inspiration from Canadian pianist Janina Fialkowska—whose voice can be heard at the beginning and end—and it was animated in After Effects with Trapcode, in case you were wondering. It’s a spellbinding take on matching abstract animation with sound and it feels like you’re peering into some subatomic world where complex dancing shapes fizzle and explode to the sounds of Chopin.[via Vimeo]Images: Defasten@stewart23rd
