Photos of the Most Creative Joints at a Parade for Weed Legalisation

Thousands of people gathered in Berlin to call for the legalisation of marijuana.

On Saturday the 12th of August, 2017, thousands of people walked through the streets of Berlin for the 21st annual Hanfparade (Hemp Parade) – a demonstration in support of legalising cannabis. This year, protesters were able to celebrate a small, recent victory – since March, medical marijuana has been made legal in Germany, in cases of serious illness, chronic pain and as a palliative treatment. However, according to the organisers of the Hanfparade, many patients who should be eligible are still finding it difficult to get their hands on medical marihuana. Under the banner "Brieter kommt weiter" (which roughly translates to "We'll get more stoned"), activists called for the right to freely grow cannabis for both medicinal and recreational use.

Berlin police estimate that about 2,000 people took part in the march, but the organisers claim the crowd was made up of more than 7,000. Some carried pro-weed signs and placards, while a few even built their own floats decorated with man-sized marijuana leaves. With so much creativity and passion for weed in one place, I suspected I would be able to find some that had a special talent for rolling joints. I asked a few weed lovers at the rally to show me their best attempts – as you can see from the photos below, the results were mixed.
