Pittsburgh Mayor Responds to Catfishgate with Tons of Puns

A Nashville fan tossed a dead catfish onto the ice during Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals and the Pittsburgh mayor released a pun-heavy statement in support, for some reason.

A self described "dumb redneck with a bad idea" from Tennessee decided to take the Predators' newly rejuvenated tradition of hurling catfish onto the ice to Pittsburgh for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Penguins. He was subsequently arrested and charged with various crimes, including "possessing instruments of crime," which was "namely, dead catfish."

This seemed to be the end of the line for the story of the weird, hurling-dead-waterlife tradition, but Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is noodling for some attention. He released a statement in support, of sorts, trawling the very bottom of the pun barrel.

It's very nice that the Office of the Mayor of Pittsburgh is weighing in on this in support of the dumb redneck from Tennessee, but a whale is a mammal, sir. Please, stop making a bass of yourself.

(I am sorry)

(Editor's note: He's not sorry.)
