Marc Gasol Banks In Three At The Buzzer To Force Overtime

The last 25 seconds of the Spurs-Grizzlies game featured a lot of Hail Mary three-pointers, but only Marc Gasol (at the buzzer) went glass.

This Grizzlies-Spurs game has been a good one. Memphis built a huge, early lead—going up by as much as 23 points in the second quarter—but the Spurs clawed all the way back and held a three-point lead with 25 seconds left in the game. It seemed like they would hold on for the win, but a wayward pass off a Vince Carter air ball gave the Grizzlies a second chance and Mike Conley buried a three with seven seconds left to tie it at 89-89.

On the Spurs next possession, Danny Green had a minor meltdown on an inbound pass to Boris Diaw, but San Antonio scrambled to get a shot off with 2.5 seconds left. Green redeemed himself by burying a three of his own to give the Spurs a 92-89 lead. This set the stage for Marc Gasol, who didn't so much bury a three at the buzzer, as hit a running floater that he tried to throw through the glass. It went in, the buzzer sounded, and the Spurs play-by-play crew was not feeling any of it. At all.

After one period of overtime the teams are tied at 102-102.

UPDATE:

And Tim Duncan just sent it to triple-overtime with this friendly assist from the rim. The Spurs guys are loving this shot.

But alas, the Grizzlies would actually (and finally) win this one, 117-116.
