Get Lost in This Tropical Balie Funk with Colo’s “Super Sabrosa” Remix

Put yourself in the hands of these propitious shamans of movement.

The original 'Sabrosa' was an instrumental tune on The Beastie Boys generation-defining Ill Communication record that helped pave paths for instrumental hip-hop that was bubbling up in the underground in the mid-90s. Xanga's "Super Sabrosa feat. Sheik Djibouti (Colo Remix)" on his Rapoeira EP seems to hold hidden melodies of the original, but 'superfied' through a wonky tropical baile funk filter with a dash of Aussie vegemite tang.

The Brazilian party beats may be somewhat forgotten in the western dance floors, but "it continued to thrive, grow and develop in its homelands and even abroad… This is where it is at now the energy is still the same. The ideas are forward thinking whilst still honest to their roots—the roots of the party and the people that built it," say the liner notes.

Xanga's Rapoeira EP comes via Thomas Von Party's and Angus Gruzman's third culture kid on a vision quest-inspired label, Multi Culti, under the collective Turbo Records banner.
