After two decades of DJing and making music, U.K. house producer Jamie Odell A.K.A. Jimpster is still striving for new sounds. Odell will release his seventh studio album on May 12, 2017, on his Freerange label. Silent Stars is a house LP that pulls from many influences and genres including jazz and minimalism, and is intended for both home listening and the dancefloor. Odell has shared the LP's title track with THUMP today—he describes it as more of a "clubby affair" than the rest of the release. On the playfully bouncing "Silent Stars," Odell tries his hand at percussive production, and comes up with a funky groove that's sure to move any hips it encounters.

"I quite often find myself playing a fair amount of Afro-influenced house tracks, but realized I'd never really produced anything along those lines," he explained in an email to THUMP. "It felt like the right time to don my percussive cap and deep trousers and I'm happy with the outcome."

Odell will hold his album release party at Sunnyvale in Brooklyn tonight, April 28. You can get tickets to see this house mainstay in action here, and be sure to look out for Silent Stars in double vinyl, CD, and digital LP on May 12 from Freerange.
