Good Guy Phil Kessel Brings Stanley Cup to Children's Hospital in Toronto

Classy move, Phil.

SickKids was buzzing with — SickKids_TheHospital (@SickKidsNews)July 18, 2016

Despite facing constant criticism during his time in Toronto, the city Phil Kessel called home for six years of his NHL career still has a special place in his heart.

After winning his first Stanley Cup this past season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the former Maple Leaf chose to spend part of his limited 24 hours with the Cup in the city he calls his second home.

The 28-year-old winger brought the Cup to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, a.k.a. SickKids, where he spent time with patients and their families, giving the kids a day they will never forget. Kessel was involved with SickKids during his tenure with the Maple Leafs, visiting often and donating a portion of proceeds from his hockey camp to the hospital.

After helping Pittsburgh win the Cup with a team-high 22 playoff points following years of ridicule from the Toronto media over his play and leadership, and showing off his true colours with a special gesture for those less fortunate, I think we finally know who the real Kessel is. The hate can be put to rest.

Good job, Phil.
