Manchester United Goal Another Beautiful Curler—Eerily Like West Ham's

Like a parallel universe.

Not to take anything away from West Ham here, people—who clearly had the better goal—but there is something eerie about the parallel universe structure of the two strikes from Manchester United (above) and West Ham (below).

A ball rolls out from sloppy play into a wide open patch of defenseless squander, and a bright, promising 22-year-old midfielder (Jesse Lingard [Man U] and Manuel Lanzini [West Ham] respectively) comes out of nowhere to send a curling shot from the 18-yard box—and finds its way just outside of the reach of fairly well positioned keeper, to boot. Yet the games were being played 223 miles apart… Spooky. Black holes, black magic.

But honestly, there are differences between the goals, and it's no contest:

Lanzini takes a casual stride to curl it directly in the top shelf, while the keeper reconsiders the parameters of his own goal. Incredible technique from Lanzini.

Meanwhile, West Brom is playing a game out of a parallel universe from an under-8's game 223 miles away.

Oh what a way to botch an immaculate cross. Time for West Brom to jump in the same wormhole as Man U and West Ham.
