Video-synthesized vibrations ripple throughout Sabrina Ratté's new music video for Holly Waxwing. For "Chalant," off this month's otherworldly Peach Winks EP (Cascine & Noumenal Loom), the video artist procures her palette from her trusty LZX modular video synthesizer, producing a kind of powder pink and purple gallery space that undulates with extradimensional entities and paranormal fingerprint-unique patterns. When the video flips into a black background flickering with soft waves it feels like what an uploaded consciousness might experience were it to recall a past-life experience with the ocean. With the thump of Holly Waxwing's sound churning footwork bubbles into a buttery future bass, the result is like a breakfast pastry hot and fresh out of a Second Life bakery: synthesized sublime.
