Swinney asks, though, is that you lend an ear: Hearing Jurassic Park is the third in his series of “Hearing” supercuts, which he began in blood with HearingTarantino, and continued with pickaxes and deadbeats with our premiere of Hearing Paul Thomas Anderson. In this video, Swinney boils the 127-minute sci-fi classic down to 51 concentrated seconds of sound designer Gary Rydstrom’s mined crashes, growls, and screams. “Using a vast combination of source sounds that ranged from lions to dolphins, Rydstrom was able to give a voice to creatures that have never been heard,” says Swinney in his video’s description. “From the haunting chirp of the raptors to the infamous T-Rex roar, here is a quick showcase of Jurassic Park's iconic dinosaur sounds.”

Swinney’s short also happens to arrive just in time to whet our appetites and our earbuds for the upcoming offshoot of Spielberg's film—only time will tell if Jurassic World's sound guy will, like Rydstrom, withstand the test of time.
