The Proximal Records Crew Takes On The Moog Google Doodle

Three tracks of pure Moog-y goodness created using one of the coolest Google Doodles so far.

Yesterday’s Google Doodle in honor of synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog was one of the most popular Doodles to date, garnering a short-lived, micro-culture of internet music by everyone from the chief engineer at Moog Music to this guy, whose mesmerizing star evades description, cover Daft Punk.

We wanted to hear what it would sound like to have a crew of really solid beatmakers run at the Moog Doodle and make tracks using it. The collective that goes by Proximal Records obliged us, sending us three short, dynamite tracks that would have made the Big Moog himself proud. The rules for this little project were to use only the Doodle for all the melodic sounds. We were cool with them adding some drums in to funk the tracks up a bit.

Here’s to you, Dr. Moog, and to dragging your birthday celebration out for just a little longer with some music made using the virtual product of your life’s work.

Lawrence Grey brings an electro vibe akin to the synth/acid house heyday.

Sahy Uhns with a little two-step number encrusted with his signature funk.

Wake with a straight-up 8-bit jam that would fit perfectly behind a 90s era side-scroller.
