Frank Lloyd Wright – Fallingwater [iPad]

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater is a modern architectural marvel. It’s now a museum, but it was originally built in Pennsylvania in the 1930s as a residential home. If you’ve never seen it then don’t fret, because you can explore it virtually with this app that comes with all the multimedia trimmings you’d expect: virtual reality panoramas, videos, archival drawings, interactive tours, and so on—just like you were actually there.

Race Against Time [iPhone, iPod touch and iPad]
At first glance this may just look like a random game about a chameleon who has to race against time to defeat a baddie, but then a clue to its true purpose is betrayed by the game’s makers—the Tate Gallery. So not only do you have to kick the evil Dr. Greyscale’s ass but the levels are full of details from the last 121 years in modern art, essentially using art history as platformer. Learning is fun!

Electric Sheep Infinite Evolving Artwork [iPad]
Scott Draves’ collaborative, evolving art project Electronic Sheep features thousands of PCs linked together collectively dreaming abstract animations when they’re in sleep mode. The project gets an app version where you can vote and choose which animations live or die and actively participate in how it develops. Navigate your way through this cyber dream world, looking at the designs while acting as a judge, jury and executioner.

MixOnMyRadio [iPhone, iPod touch and iPad]
Pandora Radio generally rules the app roost when it comes to personalized internet radio delivered straight to your phone. But this app does things slightly differently and rather than streaming, creates a radio station based on your music library and podcasts. You get a mix of music with news about arts, ents, current events and all the other things you subscribe to, giving you a nice assortment of content.

Mass Effect Volume 1: Redemption [iPhone, iPod touch and iPad]
If you’re a fan of the Mass Effect video games or a fan of Dark Horse Comics—publisher of Sin City, Hellboy, Hard Boiled, The Mask and loads more—then you may want to have a look at this digital comic. It covers ground between the two Mass Effect games, filling in all the details so you can get a complete story of the plot sating all your fanboy/girl needs.
