Creators Remix Roundup Week 22

Interpol, Spike Jonze, and why Beyonce is still a diva.

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Beyonce: “Girls (Who Rule The World)”
We usually wouldn’t consider a 15-second snippet of song worth posting, but since it’s a clip off Beyonce’s upcoming album, produced in part by Diplo, we thought we’d make an exception. Even though it’s only a brief taste of what’s to come, we can already tell how powerful and tribal of a track it’s going to be, as Beyonce croons about women who are "strong enough to bear the children then get back to business." The background sample is courtesy of Major Lazer, and apparently the video will feature 200 African native dancers. Hear for yourself over at Idolator.

Interpol: “Try It On” (Salem remix)

To commemorate Record Store Day in Europe, Interpol will be releasing a vinyl remix album on April 16th (tomorrow), though those of us in North America will have to wait until mid-summer to get our hands on the limited-edition EP. They’ve leaked the remix of “Try It On” by hip-hop trance band Salem who earnestly give Interpol’s primal sound a layer of ethereality. Download it for free on Interpol’s website.

Yo-Yo Ma ft. Lil Buck (filmed by Spike Jonze)

Grammy award-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma and L.A.-based dancer Lil Buck recently teamed up to perform a rendition of "The Dying Swan" from Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals in perhaps the perfect marriage of mediums—not to mention mash-up of “high” and “low” art. Spike Jonze caught the whole thing on tape, and while the quality is a bit lo-fi for such an acclaimed filmmaker, we’re certainly not judging.
