It Looks Like Ben Carson Will Be Trump's Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

Carson doesn't seem to have any relevant professional experience, but he did grow up in the inner city.

Retired neurosurgeon and former low-energy presidential hopeful Ben Carson hinted that he will be joining Donald Trump's cabinet as Housing and Urban Development secretary, writing on Facebook Wednesday that an official announcement is "forthcoming."

"After serious discussions with the Trump transition team, I feel that I can make a significant contribution particularly to making our inner cities great for everyone," he wrote.

Trump tweeted Tuesday that he was "seriously considering" Carson for the top job at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, calling him a "greatly talented person who loves people."

Carson has never run a large organization and doesn't have any experience in housing policy. His qualifications—beyond his loyalty to Trump—seem to be rooted in his childhood: Carson recently told Fox News that he "grew up in the inner city" and "dealt with a lot of patients from that area."

Last week Carson said he wouldn't be Trump's secretary of Health and Human Services because he wouldn't feel comfortable running a federal agency without any government experience. Looks like he changed his mind.
