Mom's Musical Corner

Rather than do what we normally do with 97% of our submissions (which is definitely not throw them in the trash), we thought, "Who better to review mom pop than a mom?"

Moms, amiright? Hi, I'm Sasha. You might know me as the Associate Editor of Noisey or the author of a column that I won't link here because my mom is going to be reading this. We see a lot of music submissions here in the VICE office, and while they typically fall somewhere between unlabeled cassette tapes with hand-drawn cover art, and some horribly twee indie outfit whose press shot was taken in a wheat field, every once in a while, we get  a shimmering gem of "mom pop." If you've ever had this exchange, you know exactly what I mean:

"Honey, what's that song I really like? It's on the VH1 Countdown. It goes something like 'Toniiiiiight, we are bright and youngggg, like the sun!' It's by those guys. You know, those guys! The Fun Guys! Oh come on, you know what I'm talking about. That's a great song. You guys should put that song on your website."

See? Mom pop.

Rather than do what we normally do with 97% of our submissions (which is definitely not throw them in the trash), we thought, "Who better to review mom pop than a mom?"

And so, we present to you: Mom's Musical Corner.

Be nice.
