NEW YORK - THE EXILE IN EXILE

We were psyched to hear that Mark Ames's eXile has found a safe haven in Panama and can now safely resume its coverage of the most ludicrous culture in the world except for certain parts of Africa. In case you missed out on all the drama, last month goons from the Russian Service for the Protection of Cultural Heritage shut down the print edition for being too funny about the Putin and Medvedev governments and providing column space to imprisoned National-Bolshevik Party leader Edward Limonov among other things. For a couple weeks it seemed like the eXile was finally going the way of NY Press, but then a bunch of readers pooled their money to save it and before we knew it we were back to reading scathing assaults on politcial figures we'd never heard of and watching drunken teenagers kill themselves. We eagerly await the return of such semi-weekly favorites as Face Control and Death Porn, the most intense crime blotter we ever hope to read.
