CREATIVE 30 - BLAINE HARRISON

Today we have Creative30 icon Blaine Harrison, who nominated musician Micachu. 22 year old Blaine began playing music at the age of five on pots and pans inspired by his father Henry’s Pink Floyd records. Despite being afflicted from childhood with Spinal Bifida, at times so bad that his movements are restricted to a wheelchair, Blaine always sought and found solace in his music, family and friends. Graduating from pots and pans to drums and on to writing songs on guitar and piano Blaine formed his band, The Mystery Jets, in 2005 on South London’s traditional creative refuge, Eel Pie Island. The band began hosting their ruckus White Cross Revival parties which would see upwards of 600 kids partying to a band that at this point had come to include Henry Harrison on guitars and vocals. Successful singles "Zoo Time" and "You Can’t Fool Me Dennis" preceded UK Top 40 debut "Making Dens" and successful dance floor remixes of their early material by the likes of Erol Alkan saw the bands profile soar. Second record, "Twenty One", and their continually engrossing live show have led to The Mystery Jets remaining an ever-relevant UK indie staple.
