After a brief but significant Twitter shitstorm that led him to announce his retirement earlier this month, Lupe Fiasco returned on Christmas Eve by announcing what appears to be his long-promised new album, DROGAS Light. In a tweet sent out this morning, the rapper posted what appeared to be album artwork, captioning it with the title and a date in February:Fiasco declared that he was retiring and cancelling his album two weeks ago after fans called him out on Twitter for apparent anti-Semitism in a new track, "N.E.R.D." "Artists gettin' robbed for their publishing / By dirty Jewish execs who think that it's alms from the covenant," he rapped in the track. After trying to defend himself on Twitter, he eventually posted, "Yo Lupe fans it's been fun and I hope you've had fun. I'm officially not releasing anymore music. Albums cancelled." It was not, of course, the first time that Fiasco had announced his retirement.The announcement today, then, suggests that Lupe Fiasco is not at all retired. Again.
