Barrett suckered in the Minnesota defense with a subtle counter fake, darted through the huge hole at the line of scrimmage, and just kept on running. The 86-yard play was Ohio State's longest play from scrimmage on the year, but it was much more than that in actual distance covered since Barrett started on the far sideline and slowly worked his way across to the near sideline as he pulled away from the Gophers defense. Barrett high-stepped out of last-ditch tackle attempt to give Ohio State a 7-0 lead.On the next series, and again on a third-down play, Barrett found Jalin Marshall for a 57-yard score and a 14-0 lead.
