Artist Turns NYC's Park Avenue Tunnel Into An Interactive Artwork

Rafael Lozano-Hemmer will be shutting down a car tunnel for the day to transform it into a cavern of light and sound.

It's not often you get to walk through a car tunnel, not unless you have some kind of death wish. But with artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's latest installation, Voice Tunnel, New York's Park Avenue tunnel will be open for the public to take a subterranean stroll and experience an interactive artwork.

The installation is part of the DOT's Summer Streets program and lets users shout into an intercom, then their voices are transformed into radiating light and sound, echoing along the 1,400 foot long cavern.

You can check out the teaser trailer above and stay tuned for a longer vid on the project coming soon.
