A NATO member has shot down a Russian plane for the first time since the 1950s. Russian president Vladimir Putin called this a “stab in the back” from Turkey while threatening “significant consequences.”
Turkey claimed the aircraft had violated its airspace. The fate of the two pilots remains unconfirmed, with footage appears to show one lying dead on the ground.
