Top Trump Officials Frustrated by North Korea
As President Trump prepared to speak about North Korea at the United Nations Tuesday, US ambassador Nikki Haley said the Security Council had "pretty much exhausted all the things we can do." Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, meanwhile, opined "we do not have much time left" for diplomacy over the regime's weapons program. Trump, for his part, called North Korean leader Kim Jong-un "Rocket Man" in a Sunday tweet about a conversation with South Korean president Moon Jae-in.—The Guardian

Dozens Arrested at Protests in St. Louis
At least 80 people were arrested in St. Louis, Missouri, Sunday as citizens continued to rage against a judge's decision to clear a police officer in the fatal shooting of Anthony Lamar Smith. The demonstration marked three straight days of protest. Mayor Lyda Crewson said some "agitators were intent on breaking windows & destroying property" after peaceful demonstrations during the day.—CBS News

Georgia Tech LGBTQ Leader Fatally Shot by Police
The president of Georgia Tech's Pride Alliance, a LGBTQ campaign group, has died after being shot by police on the campus late Saturday. Cops said Scout Schultz, 21, was carrying a knife when moving toward officers. In a Facebook post, Schultz's dad said police "didn't have to shoot him in the heart, but that's what they did."—NBC News

US Students Attacked with Acid in France
Four people who were assaulted with acid in the French city of Marseille Sunday have been identified as US students. A Boston College official said the women "are fine, considering the circumstances, though they may require additional treatment for burns." French police said the 41-year-old woman arrested and accused of the attack was "disturbed."—AP

Hurricane Maria Headed to Caribbean
The Category 1 Hurricane Maria was expected to develop into a Category 4 event as it reached several Caribbean islands this week, forecasters said. The National Hurricane Center suggested Maria would bring "dangerous wind, storm surge, and rainfall hazards" to the Leeward Islands, an area still recovering from Hurricane Irma.—CNN

North Korean Gas Prices Rise After Sanctions
A spike in gas and diesel prices hit Pyongyang and at least two other North Korean cities after the UN Security Council agreed to limit fuel exports to the country. The amount charged per kilogram increased by approximately 45 percent, according to information culled by North Korean defectors.—Reuters

Former Prime Minister's Wife Wins Special Election in Pakistan
Kulsoom Nawaz has claimed victory in a special election held in Pakistani city of Lahore. Her husband, Nawaz Sharif, the country's ex-prime minister, was recently prohibited from holding office by the country's Supreme Court following corruption allegations. Nawaz appeared to have won her husband's old seat for the ruling PML-N party by more than 14,000 votes.—BBC News

Iraq's Supreme Court Suspends Kurdish Vote on Separation
Iraq's highest court has ordered that an independence referendum slated for late September in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region not take place. The vote on splitting from Iraq had been planned by the Kurdistan Regional Government for September 25.—Al Jazeera

Hulu's dystopian original series The Handmaid's Tale took home eight awards Sunday night, including the outstanding drama series prize—a first for a streaming service.
