Welcome to Insult to Injury, the place where the Noisey editors gather to dump mad embed codes on you and talk about what they've been listening to all week. (Pretty sure some of the editors are doing that thing again where they write each other's entries. Either that or we have become total parodies of ourselves.)
If I had the power to erect a monument in honor of the newest cut from Berklee, CA rap-man 100s, I would, but I can't. Instead, I can write about it on the internet. Dude's linked up with Fool's Gold, and while his mission—getting his fuck on as much as humanly possibly with anybody with a pulse—isn't the world's most original one, this is seriously the funkiest rap song since Dre got Pac and Roger on the same single. Think Too $hort rapping over Zapp, and that's sort of the vibe we've got going here. His new EP IVRY dropped today, so check that out.Drew Millard, Features Editor

Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn - "Hello Darling"
Heidi Ho, neighbor, it's your friendly friend Eric Sundermann here. I've had a lot of feelings lately, and you know what's the best at feelings? Motherfucking country music. Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn are double the best, because they are perfect and true and real and trill and country is for hipsters now. Anyways, I'm gonna go hang out with my mom. Peace.Eric Sundermann, Managing Editor

Murder by Death - "Never Tear Us Apart" (INXS cover)Murder by Deathplayed two shows right in a row one night last week, as a band does when their sheer badassitude can sell through all of their tickets instantly. I caught the later one, which is always a terrible idea because it gives people an extra three hours to drink and then sing all the wrong words loudly and keep bumping into your back when they’re rocking out like a total jerkoff. Anyway, in my dumb opinion, they’ve been the uncontested greatest songwriters of the last decade. There is no one better. This isn’t one of their songs though. This one is by INXS and they played for all the drunk jerkoffs the other night.Dan Ozzi, Editor

Longpigs - The Sun Is Often OutThis week, I revisitedThe Sun Is Often Outby the Longpigs. It doesn't matter that their second album was a damp squib and singer Crispin Hunt never released anything noteworthy ever again. (At least we have the downcast beauty of Longpigs guitaristRichard Hawley). It doesn't matter for a moment because the Sheffield band's debut is perfection—unabashedly heartfelt and high on every emotion, even the one's that suck.Kim Taylor Bennett, Style Editor

Lana Del Rey - "Gods and Monsters"Dan forgot to add me to the Insult To Injury email chain because I guess I'm just a dumb hunk of meat for the content mill that doesnt have feelings or opinions so now I'm sitting on the floor of the former intern cage crying and listening to Lana Del Rey because she'll never let me down.Ezra Marcus, Guest Editor

Pharrell - "Marilyn Monroe"
G I R L has grown a lot on me in the last week, and I know everyone's been bitching a lot about listening parties, but hearing G I R L for the first time in a conference room was pretty shitty. However, hearing it at a bar with a pretty decent soundsystem and a glass of wine (That I bought, assholes) in my hand was a completely different experience. The opening strings on "Marilyn Monroe" are STUNNING, like fairytale, hold my hand in marriage while I parade down the aisle to this shit type-of-beautiful.Lauren Nostro, Noisey, Guest Editor

I've been trying to find the all-Lloyd version of this song for like 3 months to no avail. If anyone knows where it can be found, please contact me on twitter. Anyways this song is really pretty and the beat is nice? I don't know, I forgot to do one of these this week. Eating Japanese and watching DVDs is also something I think I've done literally hundreds of times, but since I never realized that it rhymed then i guess it never truly counted. This song makes me want to go to Oakland, but not in the same way that every Future song makes me want to go to Atlanta. Slava Pastuk, Canadian Editor
