Tim From Les Savy Fav Has A Children's Book Coming Out

Most Adults Are Still Afraid Of Him Though

Now more than ever, the music industry is in the business of bulldozing cute little independent artists. It's no longer enough to spend 15 years of your life putting out critically lauded albums and selling out grueling tours: now you've got no other choice but to moonlight as a children's book author.

Les Savy Fav front man Tim Harrington is partnering up with , Harper Collins' children's imprint, to release a storybook. The release is slated to be a “humorous, fresh take on the nursery rhyme ‘This Little Piggy,' featuring drumming, dancing, and superhero toes."

While the news of Harrington's pending kiddy release technically ranks him among the many other presumptuous, yuppie musicians-turned-children's-book-authors like Madonna, Paul Simon, Jimmy Buffett, and Colin Meloy of The Decemberists, we can all take some solace in the fact that no matter what, deep down, Tim will always be the guy parents won't let their kids sit next to on the subway.

This isn't the first non-musical endeavor the self-proclaimed "dad-generate" has tried his hand at. Harrington is the founding (and only) member of his aptly-titled one-man think tank tank, Harrington & Selves, of which he is the Creative Technologist, Poet Laureate, and Creative, Musical, and Artistic Director. The “collective,” if you can call it that, produces most of Harrington’s work, including these incredible “Bummer Postcards.” Check this one out:

The "collective" describes itself as "a very special organization committed to an ideal that one person can, in fact, excel at everything," and acts as a clearinghouse for Harrington's art ventures. H&S produces Tim's pitch-perfect dry humor "bummer postcards" Unpleasantries;-(, as well FREE:2012, a project by which the Rhode Island School of Design grad gave away 12 original works via lottery system. And, of course, the Piggy rework, which will presumably feature Harrington-original illustrations,

No previews or excerpts from the Piggy rework have been made available just yet, so I've taken the liberty of drafting up a quick outline of what I think the NYC art rocker's Les Savy Fav-isized tale might look like:

This little piggy went to Brooklyn Flea,

This little piggy stayed home with a killer hangover.

This little piggy had roast beef,

This little piggy had seitan soy cutlet.

This little piggy tried to go "Wee! Wee! Wee!" all the way home, but the L train was out of service for the weekend so he ended up cursing the MTA and taking a 30 dollar cab.

Hopefully, that will tide you over for a bit until details like distributors and a release date are made public.
