Taste Nasta Is Taking His Smooth Grooves From Small Town New Zealand to Los Angeles

Watch the premiere video of his 80s inspired track, 'Time Goes By'.

Taste Nasa is Leroy Clampitt, a small town boy from Pirongia, that is also home to New Zealand's second oldest race course. Now based in LA, Leroy’s musical output is reflective of the 80s grooves he spent hours listening to in NZ but now also channels the contemporary, soft electronic plugin he's become familiar with in his new home.

The video for the title track from his new EP, finds a lovesick photographer/man about town in a variety of settings shot in New Zealand, but that could easily be transplanted anywhere else in the world.

Check out the premiere of the "Time Goes By" video below, as well as the three track EP now available on Soundcloud.

Noisey: Pirongia to LA is a big change. The video has an other worldly feel to it. Does it reflect any of your experiences in the big city?
Leroy Clampitt: Yea I guess so, but that’s not what I intended really. It’s interesting because the video is shot in New Zealand, but kind of feels like Melbourne or something. How did you access some of those interesting cars?
I have no idea! I just got a photo from the director and there was a Lamborghini in it! And then when he sent me the final video, there was two Lamborghinis. I didn’t even know they existed in New Zealand, so it was really cool to see what he was able to source. He seems to be able to get whatever he wants, and he always has the best stuff. There are some tasteful 80s elements to the track. What were you listening to when you wrote it?
In the past I've listened to a lot of 80s music, like Midnight Star and that kind of thing, but when I moved here I was launched into a whole lot of new, modern electronic dance music. I could see what those artists were doing, and I guess this was kind of my response that came naturally.

‘Time Goes By’ is available now from Vitalic Noise.
