Silent Barn Got Robbed, And It's In Danger Of Closing

If you live in New York and care about music you’ve probably been to the Silent Barn. This dilapidated Ridgewood warehouse incubated the careers of some of our favorite bands, like Liturgy, Vivian Girls, and Real Estate. It’s also nourished the bi-weekly one-sheet Showpaper and Babycastles, a DIY videogame arcade. Oh, and it also rocks a ‘zine library, an art theater, and a museum of huge murals. If the world was fair, the venue would continue on into infinity, hosting amazing shows and fostering local artists and performers.

Well, they got robbed. Like big-time robbed. Faceless jerks walked away with $15,000 worth of gear, art, and personal belongings. There was serious damage done to the space too, with doors torn off the hinges and couches messed up.

This is a really huge blow to every music scene in New York. Silent Barn has set up a Kickstarter HERE, where you can help to ensure the venue’s continued existence. If you want to help in some other way, please email silentbarn@gmail.com. If you need a little push, check out this inspirational video that they put together.
